The MSJC Athletic Department is excited to announce that they will be adding women's flag football as a competitive sport in the Spring of 2027.
Training for the new sport will begin in the Fall of '26. The sport of women's flag football is one of the fastest growing sports throughout not only our region, but across the country. Many local high schools already offer the sport and MSJC is pleased to be part of the growing opportunities for female student-athletes. Nearly 20,000 high school girls participated in flag football throughout the state last year. The sport has been officially recognized by the CIF since the 2023-24 school year.
The governing body of California Community College Athletics (3C2A) has added women's flag football as an emerging sport for the Spring of '27 and are hoping it becomes a fully sanctioned sport by 2028.
"We are excited to give the young female student-athletes of our area an opportunity to continue their athletic endeavors here at MSJC", said Dean of Athletics and Student Life Patrick Springer. "Flag football is by far and away the fastest growing female sport in our area, and we think that will translate to high participation numbers".
