Golf Team Opens Season With Eagle Invitational

The MSJC men's golf team opened the season on Wednesday in drizzly and cool conditions at Soboba Country Club when they hosted the Eagle Invitational.

Anthony Saavedra was MSJC's top performer on the day as he shot an 81. Mclain Brigham was next for the Eagles with an 85, followed by teammates Jacob Aylward (88), Akoni Johnson (89), Sohum Mahbubbani (89), and Shane Agundez (90).

The ten-team event was won by Reedley College who turned in a team score of 295, they were 7-shots better than the two teams that tied for second place College of the Desert and Victor Valley who shot 302.  COD's Linus Utter took home medalist honors as he posted a two under par 70.

The Eagles will return to action next Wednesday when they play in the Cuyamaca Tournament at Steele Canyon.
